Coloring books and sheets are important educational tools to prepare the preschoolers for school. It is also one of the most favorite pastime activities of the kids. It sparks their imagination and gives them an opportunity to express themselves. Give your kids drawing sheets of their favorite cartoons, animals or film stars; they will spend hours coloring it.
Colors affect the bodily functions, mind and emotions with the energy produced by light. Studies conducted clearly demonstrate the benefits of colors where the development of the brain, creativity, productivity and learning are concerned. The effects of color on human beings can be varied; causing excitement, lending calm, giving inspiration, raising anxiety or tension or giving peace are some of these effects. These effects can be observed more distinctly in children. Children can be more sensitive to colors.
Boundaries – Another thing that children learn from coloring pages, with pre-printed pictures on them, is how to accept boundaries. While a toddler or preschooler might scribble all over a coloring sheet, with no respect for the boundaries (lines on the coloring page), as the child gets older, they will begin to respect those lines, and make an effort to color between them. While I encourage blank paper coloring for free expression as often as possible, for many preschoolers pre-printed coloring pages are their first exposure to printed boundaries. This early exposure to boundaries in print, will be a huge help when handwriting time comes around, and the child has to respect the boundaries of the pre-printed handwriting lines on the paper.
